ProFILE Communication GmbH of Vreden (Germany) has just become part of the worldwide community of KODAK FLEXCEL NX System users who have successfully completed the KODAK certification program for KODAK FLEXCEL NX Plates. This program, launched in 2013, requires companies to demonstrate that the FLEXCEL NX Plates they produce are consistently made to a standard Kodak global specification.

ProFILE originally commissioned a KODAK FLEXCEL NX Wide 4260 System back in June 2012 and installed a second system of the same type in March 2015. Founded in 1999, the firm currently employs 74 people and has a wide range of prepress services in its portfolio. It provides comprehensive support to customers all over Europe, from packaging design through digital media services, such as packshot production and 3D visualization or reproduction for all packaging printing processes (flexo, gravure, offset, screen and digital) to platemaking for flexo printing and brand support (full brand support packages including print approvals). Early in 2018, ProFILE also opened an independent agency in Berlin for creative packaging design, artwork creation and adaption, packaging development and market & trend research.

FLEXCEL NX Plate technology generates real added value for customers

The FLEXCEL NX Plate technology has developed into an impressive success story for ProFILE. Today, more than 75% of all flexographic plates made there are FLEXCEL NX Plates. All in all, ProFILE produces around 15,000 square meters of digitally imaged plates a year.

“The good reproducibility of the FLEXCEL NX Plates is worth an awful lot to us, especially where reorders are concerned. The higher speed compared to plates made using LAMS systems is another advantage. Above all, though, printers’ profit from the excellent ink transfer,” says ProFILE’s Managing Director, Dirk Hemsing. “The introduction of the NX Advantage Technology with a bigger choice of surface patterning capabilities and Advanced Edge Definition has definitely been one of the highlights. It took ink transfer control to a new level and let us offer printers more flexibility.”

Ina Polhuis, Assistant to the Managing Director, comments on the growth momentum which ProFILE has derived from the FLEXCEL NX Plate technology: “Over the years, we’ve converted many jobs that used to be typically reserved for gravure to flexo. FLEXCEL NX Plates have clear benefits here in our view. What’s more, Kodak’s flexo technology has helped us gain a foothold in the food and pet food sectors, which have increased significantly alongside our classic business with packaging for tissues and toiletries.”

ProFILE Communication GmbH is very proud of the newly acquired FLEXCEL NX certification, which it regards as equivalent to an award. Dirk Hemsing: “The certification is one element of our quality assurance strategy. It proves that we adhere to stringent production standards in our day-to-day working. Since we also intend to use it for communication and promotional purposes, it will have a positive impact on both our internal and our external relationships.”
