Bosisio Flexo SA improves plate uniformity, consistency and sustainability credentials with Shine LED Lamp Kit investment

20/03/25

Argentinian prepress trade shop Bosisio Flexo SA has upgraded its largest plate exposure unit – a 5080 – with a Shine LED Lamp Kit, innovated by Miraclon. The investment reinforces the company’s ambition to lead the way in enabling the highest consistency and sustainability standards in flexographic printing, while meeting its own internal efficiency, productivity and sustainability goals.

“We have a longstanding partnership with Miraclon and have utilized FLEXCEL Solutions to differentiate ourselves in the market since 2017,” said Roberto Sixto, Technical Commercial Manager at Bosisio Flexo SA. “Our ongoing innovative technology investment policy ensures we always offer our customers the best efficiency, repeatability, and consistent quality in flexo plate production.

“Since installing the Shine LED lamp kit, we’re saving around six minutes of warm-up time, every time we need to start up the exposure unit, which is often multiple times during a shift. This makes a significant productivity impact. Furthermore, with the better uniformity enabled by LED exposure, we produce a more consistent plate – addressing a known issue with fluorescent bulbs. We’ve also been able to make a positive ecological impact with reduced energy consumption and the opportunity to eliminate mercury, a hazardous waste.”

Award-winning benefits of the Shine LED Lamp Kit

Because it utilizes customers’ existing fluorescent exposure frames, the Shine LED Lamp Kit can be retrofitted in the field in a few hours. For a fraction of the cost of a new LED exposure unit, users benefit from consistent, predictable intensity over a much longer operating life (more than 5,000 hours compared to 800 hours for fluorescent tubes), faster exposures, and enhanced sustainability performance. These features won the Shine LED Lamp Kit a unique double at the 2024 FTA Excellence in Flexography Awards in North America, winning top awards for both Sustainability and Technical Innovation, and more recently the German FTA (DFTA) Sustainability Technology Award.
